Blue Ocean Shift: Micro Review
I read the original Blue Ocean strategy almost 13 years ago and it was one of my first business strategy books. So When the follow up came out, I had it on my reading list for a while. Finished it last night and the verdict:
Sequels are really hard :) When the original came out, it sparked a new line of thinking and introduced the mainstream business world to blue ocean-red ocean terminology. The new book has a set of good case studies and a recommended methodology on how we can shift from red oceans to blue oceans but it incorporates many of the familiar concepts now (like the Pioneer-Migrators-Settlers Map, the Strategy Canvas etc.).
Still a recommended read if strategy or innovation is part of your passion/charter in life. But unlike its predecessor, it’s another strategy book in the red ocean of books :)
