Engineering the Digital Transformation: Micro Review
Engineering the Digital Transformation is the latest book by Gary Gruver.
As I read the book, I was reminded of a talk I sat in by Gary where he started by describing the link between modern software development and manufacturing.
In his latest book, Gary delves more into those linkages and highlights the synergy and differences between manufacturing and software development.
I am fan of Gary because he is one of the few thinkers in the area who has a holistic approach to the software development challenges. Large enterprises have a complex ecosystem of technology and solutions that include legacy tightly coupled architecture, loosely coupled architecture, micro services etc. In his book, Gary does exactly that by drawing on his experience to address that complex ecosystem.
The book brings together almost all modern concepts of software development and delves into various aspects, challenges and nuances of the same and provides some great insight. It will definitely force you to pause, step back, think and then act.
A recommended read for all software development leaders. There are too many nuggets to share in a post, I will share them in a follow up.
