“Hit Refresh” by Satya Nadella is a book that expounds on the existential questions for Satya’s Microsoft.

The fact that Microsoft just recently overtook Amazon as the 2nd most valuable US company should compel you to attempt to understand the answers to those existential questions.

As a bonus, you will also gain an insight into the Modern Microsoft and it’s strategy and vision. Fair warning — it’s not your father’s or your childhood’s Microsoft.

And you will get a perspective on the recent internal culture transformation and related anecdotes on how people gave up on reliable on-prem business models or teams built software for competitor’s platform. A recommended read. Larry can definitely learn a lot from this one :)

Two quotes from the book that will stay with me and I will leave you with-

“A leader must see the external opportunities and the internal capability and culture- and all of the connections among them — and respond to them before they become obvious part of the conventional wisdom.”

“Microsoft no longer employs people, people employ Microsoft.”

BTW, I would like to thank my friends at Microsoft for the employee edition of the book. Satya’s notes and highlights added an interesting dimension to my reading.
