Leaders Eat Last: Micro Review
I just finished reading this amazing book on leadership. In one of his YouTube videos, Simon Sinek says that its both exciting and depressing that there is an audience for his books. When someone writes a book with chapters like “Employees Are People Too”, “Integrity Matters”, “Friends Matter”, “Lead the people not the numbers” and that book goes on to become a bestseller, you know what he meant.
So what’s different in his books? As he himself succinctly puts it in one of his chapters — “This is no soapbox rambling. This is just biology”. Simon describes how humans have successfully evolved as a species and a society through these leadership principles and how even neuroscience makes a case for it.
I personally have had “managers”/leaders whom I worked for/with for many years and can say that they came close to what Simon described in his book and I would like to give a shout out to — Shailesh Jambli, Kevin Fisher, Connie Kristovich.
What about you? Have you had leaders who created that circle of safety around you so that you could thrive in your job?
