Originals: Micro Review
Another great read — Originals by Adam Grant. As soon as I got to the 2nd page in the book, I had to hunt for my highlighter and collect some nuggets.
These nuggets are backed by research and insights that Adam outlines in his book. There is lot more than what I chose to highlight below but every single of these resonated in a way that I can spend hours talking about. This book is a must read for leaders who are always striving to make things better.
What about you? Are there any of these that resonated with you too?
- The hallmark of originality is rejecting the default and exploring whether a better option exists.
- People who suffer the most from a given state of affairs are paradoxically the least likely to question, challenge, reject, or change it.
- Originality is an act of creative destruction.
- In a rapidly changing world, the lessons of experience can easily point us in the wrong direction.
- Procrastination can work creative wonders when you use it strategically.
- The best collaborators are the ones that love to prove you wrong.
- When it comes to idea generation, quantity is the most predictable path to quality.
- On matters of style, swim with the current, on matters of principles, stand like a rock.
